ICL (IMPLANTABLE CONTACT LENS)
ICL (IMPLANTABLE CONTACT LENS)

A lens is placed inside your eye and in front of your natural lens.
The lens usually does not alter any structures within your eye or on
the cornea and can be removed or replaced if required. It is a perfect
solution for people
with extreme short-sightedness, up to -10, or extreme far-sightedness,
+4.
Implantable contact lenses, or phakic lenses, are made from
collagen-based biocompatible material. There are several ICLs
available, such as the Verisyse, Artisan and the Visian ICL, which all
have subtle differences-your surgeon will decide which lens will best
suit your eye. The ICL is implanted during a minor day surgery
procedure performed under local anaesthesia. ICLs have several major
advantages if you have a high refractive error.
They are more predictable and accurate in correcting higher errors;
the procedure is well-tested; the cornea is not affected; the result
is almost immediate and rehabilitation is very rapid.
