Vision Laser doctor wins prestigious award
In April 2007, at the annual conference of the American Society of
Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS) in San Diego, Dr Colin Chan
from The Eye Institute won The Best Paper of the Session award for his
research on LASIK laser vision correction. Over 1,000 papers from around
the world were submitted for consideration this year, and only a handful
received the prestigious award. This is the second year in a row that Dr
Chan has won this award, a rare feat in the history of the conference.
Last year he won the award for his research on using omega-3
supplements, such as flaxseed oil, to minimize dry eye after laser
vision correction. Dr Chan also served as a panelist at this year's
conference at a session dedicated to new treatments for presbyopia (loss
of reading vision with age). Dr Chan is pictured delivering his
presentation at the conference.
The doctors at The Eye Institute believe in conducting research. This
enables the doctors to constantly ensure that their work is of the
highest standard and that it withstands the scrutiny of international
peers. Their research has been presented at numerous international
conferences and published in the top peer-reviewed journals. Dr Chan has
20 peer-reviewed publications to his credit, mainly in the area of laser
vision correction and keratoconus. He is also a reviewer for numerous
international ophthalmology journals.
